Heart Meditation for Protection and Projection
MANTRA FOR PROTECTION, WHENEVER YOU NEED IT
There are a shortlist of mantras that are used a lot in our household. This mantra is near the top of that list. Also known as Mangala Charn Mantra, we refer to it as our "protection mantra".
Reciting the mantra surrounds your magnetic field in protective light. In other words, it gives you a real-life force-field, superhero-like! And just like in the movies, this force field keeps you safe from harm - physical, verbal and mental.
On a daily basis we'll use this mantra to start our yoga practice, when we jump in the car (or a plane!) and whenever we get one of those "I don't like this" premonitions. We also use it to direct that force field energy towards others - those that are going through difficult times, or whenever one of those uncomfortable thoughts/daydreams/nightmares come up where someone close to us is hurt.
Try getting to know the mantra and see how it magnifies your force field. A beautiful way to truly experience it is by practicing this meditation for 3, 7, 11, or 31 minutes everyday for 40 days. Not only will your heart be radiating with love and protection, you'll know intimately the security that this mantra affords.

MEDITATION CLOTHING TO WEAR
In complement to her surroundings, Rachel is wearing our popular multi-way shawl: the White Journey Shawl. Styled as an open vest, it's paired with a kundalini head covering.
Both garments were ethically and lovingly made in downtown Los Angeles and are ideally suited to a meditation practice.

BENEFITS OF AAD GURAY NAMEH MEDITATION, A.K.A. MEDITATION FOR PROJECTION & PROTECTION FROM THE HEART, A.K.A. MANGALA CHARN MANTRA
According to Yogi Bhajan, the spiritual leader of Kundalini Yoga, this meditation will "give you an enchanting, magnetic personality". In turn, it will also bring you many "unexpected friends".
Combined with protective light from the mantra (as explained above), this powerful meditation will allow you to project directly from the heart in all life's interactions, all while remaining truly protected.

AAD GURAY NAMEH MEDITATION POSTURE & DIRECTIONS
Sit in easy pose, with a light jalandhar band (chin lock achieved by bringing your spine and the back of your neck flat to an imaginary wall directly behind you).
Place your palms together at heart center in Prayer Pose. Cross your thumbs, one over the other. Your hands will stay like this throughout the meditation.
Chant the Mangala Charn Mantra with the following movements:
"aad guray nameh" --> extend arms out and up at 60 degrees. The full extension of the arms is timed to the chant.
"jugaad guray nameh" --> bring the palms back to heart center, arriving in time with the chant.
"sat guray nameh" --> extend arms out and up at 60 degrees 'till full extended. The full extension of the arms is timed to the chant.
"siree guroo dayvay nameh" --> return the palms in prayer pose to heart center, arriving in time with the chant.
Project the mind out as you chant.
Eyes: Eyes are closed and focused at the brow point.
Time: Begin with 3 minutes and extend to 7, 11, then 31 minutes, as comfortable.
Duration: For best results practice this meditation daily for 40 days (or longer). 40 consecutive days establishes new connections in the brain, breaking any negative habits in the process.
* Instructions above paraphrased from The Aquarian Teacher by Yogi Bhajan.
