To The Mothers of The World
Mothers Day is a special day. I appreciate that truth more than ever this year.
This is Rachel's first Mothers Day as a mother. In the past year I've watched in awe at the grace and strength with which Rachel grew, then birthed, then nursed our daughter into being.
Dayva Grace is a healthy, thriving, 20-plus pound baby girl today. She's now 6 months old and to this point in her life has been sustained 100% by her mother. To me, that's absolutely, mind-bendingly incredible. Especially when you hold the little "heffalump" (Rachel's endearing nickname for our very healthy girl) for an extended period of time.
Witnessing this transformation has not only given me a new-found, deeper appreciation for Rachel but also for my own mother and all the mothers in this world. You are truly divine beings - Goddesses in the truest sense of the world.
To all the Mothers out there: thank you for endowing our world with love, empathy, kindness, grace and understanding. You are strong and beautiful beyond words.
Happy Mothers Day.
