The Empowering Kali Mudra - 30 Weeks of Mudras
Want to feel empowered in your life?
Time to call on Kali, God of empowerment - also known as the Destroyer - to destroy any negativity in your system and help you embrace the incredible being that you are!
After a long hiatus, we're back with another edition of our very popular Mudra series. To date we've chronicled the healing, rejuvenating, enlightening and titilating powers of 8 different mudras, and today we adventure forward with one of the most powerful mudras of all.
As a refresher, while in Bali last year we did a series of Instagram tutorials for 30 different mudras. Inspired by the traditional craftsmanship of the Balinese people, we shot each mudra in front of a beautiful handcrafted Balinese door. Hope it helps transport you there.
Now to the life changing stuff...
Description and Meaning
Kali Mudra helps to activate energy in the upper chakras and is used to break through (aka: destroy) negative thought patterns.
How to do the Kali Mudra
Interlace middle, ring and little fingers with index fingers pointing upward. Cross your left thumb over your right and hold hands in front of your chest or above your head.
Benefits
The Kali Mudra releases tension in the body. To experience this release try doing Sat Kriya, a Kundalini meditation, for 3 minutes. This meditation is known to be one of the most powerful meditations for both the negativity it brings forward and then the release that follows. We will soon have a meditation tutorial video for Sat Kriya on our popular meditation YouTube channel so please check back soon.
The Kali Mudra is also known for its power to eliminate: speeding digestion in your large intestines, encouraging sweating via the skin and improving exhalation through the lungs.
Why we Love the Kali Mudra
Life can be overwhelming. Especially during these, the darkest days of winter, when, depending on where you call home, it can feel like weeks before you see the sun.
As mentioned above, Kali is also known as The Destroyer. Doing this mudra is much like calling on that destructive power to break through the negative and reveal your true self. Practicing it through a meditation like Sat Kriya will likely bring up negativity. It's a physically, and thus mentally, challenging meditation that brings much to the surface. What is almost tangible though is it's power to destroy those negative feelings as they arise. It's for this reason that we dub it one of the most powerful mudras.
